Buckinghamshire MPs release statement on HS2 works during COVID-19 pandemic

Today the Buckinghamshire MPs released released a statement following the Department of Transport's notice to proceed with the construction of Phase 1 of HS2.

The MPs are calling for a delay to the commencement of construction of HS2 amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Government gave formal approval to begin construction on HS2 today despite the lockdown measures which have been put in place by the Government.

At a time when many people will be isolating and social distancing at home, Joy Morrissey has criticised the decision to go ahead on account of the unnecessary disruption, stress, and anxieties the constructions works could cause residents.

In the statement Joy Morrissey MP said: "This is deeply disappointing at such a difficult time, and is causing distress to local residents at a moment when we should all be pulling together."
